While some people call these Birds Nest cookies and other people call them Thumb Print cookies, there is one thing that without a doubt everyone can agree on.
This is a very easy Christmas cookies recipe that can be done in virtually no time at all.
And just like all the other recipes on this site, these cookies are as delicious as can be. Certainly, these will become a family favorite, eagerly anticipated year after year.
BIRDS NEST COOKIES
Ingredients
6 Tbsp. butter
1/4 cup brown sugar (firmly packed & slightly heaped)
1 egg yolk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. salt
1 cup flour
Directions
Mix the above ingredients well. Roll into 1/2″ balls. Make an indention with your finger dipped in egg white. Bake 5 minutes at 350 degrees on ungreased cookie sheets. Make the indention again. Bake 8 minutes more.
Put colored frosting in the center of each cookie. Or to make this recipe even easier, you can always put a Hershey’s Kiss or a Christmas M&M in the center of each cookie.
FROSTING FOR COOKIES
Ingredients
1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
Water
Red and green food coloring
Directions
Put confectioners’ sugar in a small bowl. Add water 1 tsp. at a time until frosting is at desired consistency. Add 2 to 3 drops of food coloring.
