This Christmas sugar cookies recipe is super easy to make and it tastes absolutely delicious.
In just a few short minutes you will have a batch of the most wonderful fresh baked cookies ready to share with your family and friends.
There is nothing better than the delightful aroma of fresh baked cookies permeating your home during the holiday season.
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1 Tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
3 cups flour
In a large bowl mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until they are light and fluffy. Add the eggs, water, and vanilla and stir until completely blended.
Now combine the two mixtures by slowly adding the flour mixture to the butter mixture. Stir continually until completely blended.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Form the dough mixture into 1 1/2 inch balls and place onto nonstick cookie sheets. Leave approximately 3 inches of space between the balls of dough.
Press down on the dough balls with the bottom of a drinking glass dipped in flour.
Add red or green sprinkles to the top of each cookie if desired.
Bake for 10 minutes.
Place a double layer of paper towel on the countertop approximately the same length as the cookie sheets.
Remove baked cookies from the oven with oven mitts. With a plastic spatula lift cookies from cookie sheets and gently place them on the paper towels.
Allow cookies to completely cool before transferring them to a cookie jar or other container.
